You're asking for the ability to take a new snapshot from the Zotero app? That's not something we'd do — the Zotero app doesn't necessarily have the same access or state as the browser, so any snapshot behavior is going to be done by the Zotero Connector. The ability to add a new snapshot to an existing item is planned, though. You can close the collections tree if you don't want it, and View → Layout → Stacked can help with narrow monitors.
