Citing within citation, possible?

Hi there,
Is it possible to arrange the zotero citations to reference a citation within a citation?

The output desired citation string would look, for example, like this:

Estelle v. Gamble, 429 U. S. 97, 102 (1976) (quoting Trop v. Dulles, 356 U. S. 86, 101 (1958) (plurality opinion)).

Can these citations be arranged to produce that string post-ODF scan? If so, what is the proper arrangement?

Thank you!
  • I suggest treating these as 2 separate citations and making “ (quoting “ the prefix and “ (plurality opinion))“ the suffix of the second.
  • You mean like this?

    { | Estelle v. Gamble, 429 U.S. 97 1976 | p. 102 | |zu:#####:CKTHYAUM}{ quoting| Trop v. Dulles, 356 U.S. 86 1958 | p. 101 | (plurality opinion)|zu:#####:2WL2MTJZ}

    Here is what I get: Estelle v. Gamble, 429 U.S. 97, 102 (1976); quoting Trop v. Dulles, 356 U.S. 86, 101 (1958) (plurality opinion).

    I ran it again, adding the parenthesis before quoting and at the end of the Trop citation, and here is what I got:

    Estelle v. Gamble, 429 U.S. 97, 102 (1976); (quoting Trop v. Dulles, 356 U.S. 86, 101 [1958] [plurality opinion]).

    How can I get rid of the “;” after (1976)?
    Is there a way to avoid the internal [ ] and have them show up as ( )?
  • I'm afraid neither removing the ; nor disabling the parenthesis flip is possible
