Indexing PDF, How to turn it off?

I am running a Mac, FireFox Version 3.5.7, Zotero Version 1.0.10. I have installed pdftotext version 3.02 and pdfinfo version 3.02. Everytime I attach a PDF it indexes it, and it takes forever!

How can I turn this off and only index the files that I really need indexed?

    In Preferences -> Search, setting "Maximum pages to index per file" to 0 (zero) should do the trick.
