Upgrade StorageCitations not all updating

Has anyone found a way to fix an issue with citations not all updating when doing a manual refresh? I had originally turned off automatic updates, and just turned that back on to see if that helps, but no dice. Basically, I have a bunch of citations in my paper where I change them to work better in my sentences... so for example: (Jenkins, 2007) becomes: According to Jenkins (2007)...
So after I did a manual refresh, it prompted me to click yes/no about keeping the citation the way it is. It did that for a bunch of them, but also didn't do it randomly for a bunch others. Now I'm stuck re-inserting each of those citations one by one, manually changing them to fit my sentences, refreshing, and then waiting for the yes/no dialogue box to pop up (which can sometimes take time). Any suggestions? I'm frustrated that zotero can't recognize/have options for different ways to cite things like this. (I'm using APA 7th, so no footnotes.) My dissertation is due soon and this is taking away from precious writing time! :(
