Chrome Connector extension says 'Zotero is disabled'

I just renewed my annual zotero subscription and have been able to sync my library, but the Chrome connector dialogue box is saying 'zotero is disabled'. I have tried removing the extension and re-adding it but same thing happening. Any suggestions, please?

    Zotero Storage never has anything to do with your local usage of Zotero — it only applies to file uploads.

    You'd see this if you weren't on a regular online webpage or PDF (beginning with "http://" or "https://).
