No Annotation Backlinks to PDF in Zotero 6.x

In Zotero 5.x, when I extracted highlight annotations from a ODF with ZotFile, one amazing feature was that it put backlinks in the extracted annotions at the end every extracted highlight. Thus, even when editing the annotation in an external editor, clicking the link would open the pdf at the according page.

In Zotero 6 - with the "extract annotations" function rolled into the main app - these links are not generated, although the old links still work.

They have the style of

zotero://open-pdf/library/items/QPIFVZUG?page=1

How can I bring that functionality back?

Specifically: how can I get to the 'QPIFVZUG' tag? For the item in the example, zotfiles 'copy selected item link' function gives me

zotero://select/library/items/AZUITIW3

And if I form a link

zotero://open-pdf/library/items/AZUITIW3?page=1

Nothing happens.

Please advise. Thanks!
  • Zotero generates backlinks automatically when you use Quick Copy on an annotation or note containing annotations/citations, as long as "Include Zotero Links" is enabled for the format you're using in the Quick Copy settings (Export pane of the app settings). "Include Zotero Links" is enabled by default for Markdown and disabled by default for Rich Text/HTML (which would include copying to Word).
