cannot add bibliography

I cannot add a bibliography to my thesis. I have around 400 references and whenever I try to add a reference or bibliography, it takes me to the software without doing anything. It crashed multiple times and now it is not responding at all. What to do? Help!

    For the bibliography, you're almost certainly just not waiting long enough. A large document in Word for Mac can take a very long time. You can go to Help → Debug Output Logging → View Output to confirm that it's still processing. If you think it's stuck, restart Zotero and try again, and be prepared to wait a while — possibly hours.

    For adding a citation, make sure the citation dialog isn't just appearing behind the main Zotero window. And if you already pressed Add/Edit Bibliography, you'll need to wait for that to finish before Add/Edit Citation will do anything.

    In normal use, you also want to have "Automatically update citations" disabled in the plugin's Document Preferences window so that actually inserting a citation remains quick.
