An Error Message Occurred Generating Your Bibliography / Report ID 415900249

Report ID 415900249

I used to be able to click 'generate bibliography from item' by right clicking the file in my zotero library and saving it as an RTF file on my desktop then copying pasting into my bibliography, now an entirely different screen comes up when I right click the citation I want to save and then comes up with "An Error Message Occurred Generating Your Bibliography ". How do I fix this problem? Much appreciated.

You're getting a very strange error for various file access attempts. You appear to have moved your data directory into Documents. If you have Desktop & Documents syncing via iCloud enabled, you absolutely can't have your data directory there and should move it back to the home folder.

You can also try restarting your computer, but you still need to move the data directory out if Documents is synced.

Once you've fixed that, you should reset your translators and styles from the Advanced → Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences.
  • Thanks for the speedy reply dstillman, I didn't move anything, not sure how this has happened. When you say move it back to your home folder, what is that? Sorry if that sounds naive, but I don't have a home folder that I'm aware of.
  • Oh ok, just the one that has my name. Great. I'll try it now.
  • Wow! Legend, that worked. Thanks heaps :)
