sharing reviews/notes/discussion on references
I'm a seldom user here so please redirect me to discussions on this topic which I was not able to find so far.
I would like to ask if "community functions" beyond sharing references was discussed before?
I'm discussing the necessity of sharing short reviews/notes/discussion on references with a fellow researcher on publications in certain areas (usage of tags or categories probably useful). He was thinking of coding an online service for a very specific area/topic providing this.
My first impression is only a more broader service/tool would be adopted by enough fellow researchers to become interesting to use?
I do not know if anything outside academic journals or preprint servers offers such community features, maybe some of the commercial reference management software?
Here some of the community features and services which could be useful:
User comments, User ratings, Social sharing, Bookmarking, Recommendations, Tags/subject categories, Usage metrics, Linked open data, Subscription to other users for their reviews/notes/tags
