prompt for which collection to enter reference

I'm not sure if something like this has been addressed, and please tell me if there is a better way to do this that I'm missing. As far as I can tell, when you enter a reference or web page, it will go into your main library folder. I'd like to have an option to immediately put it in a particular collection/folder, otherwise either I've got to take an extra step and drag it to a folder, and if I forget it might get lost in my main folder if I'm trying to group references together.

A new citation will go into My Library if no particular collection is selected, but if you select (highlight) a particular collection first, new citations will go into that collection (as well as into My Library, as always). A prompt after clicking on the icon in the location bar could get unwieldy, especially with a lot of collections and sub-collections.
