Articles cited in mixed styles

operating system: Windows 10
Zotero version: 6.0.26

When I add bibliography in Word Office, Journal articles appear with different style if they are from Frontiers in Immunology journal. The style chosen in Vancouver (brackets). This is how it looks like in references:

2. Acevedo GR, Girard MC, Gómez KA. The Unsolved Jigsaw Puzzle of the Immune Response in Chagas Disease. Frontiers in Immunology [Internet]. 2018 [cited 2023 Jun 9];9. Available from: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fimmu.2018.01929

3. Rosenberg CS, Martin DL, Tarleton RL. CD8+ T Cells Specific for Immunodominant Trans-Sialidase Epitopes Contribute to Control of Trypanosoma cruzi Infection but Are Not Required for Resistance. The Journal of Immunology. 2010 Jul 1;185(1):560–8.

It seems to me that cite 3 is in Published articles format while cite 2 is Deposited articles (preprints, e-prints, or arXiv) format, even though they have been published for years. This happens only for articles from Frontiers in immunology, which is an online journal.

Than you
  • Zotero > Edit > Preferences > Cite > "Include URLS of paper articles in references"
    and make sure it's unchecked.
  • It is already unchecked.
  • Usually our styles test for the absence of volume and pages. Does that specific citation have those? You might want to add them manually in Zotero.
  • No -- 2 is just the online article format. The item doesn't have a page range or number in Zotero and the format is correct for online articles in NLM/Vancouver
  • Articles published in Frontiers in Immunology don't have pages and numbers because it is an online journal. I think that is the problem why Zotero cites them as Deposited articles, not Published articles. However, Vancouver (brackets) is the style required for the journal I am submitting my article. All citations should be in a similar format. As I cite 7/70 articles from Frontiers in Immunology that makes a significant amount of citations in different styles in my paper.
  • Ok thank you.

The journal I am submitting my article has this style for online articles:

Huynen MMTE, Martens P, Hilderlink HBM. The health impacts of globalisation: a conceptual framework. Global Health. 2005;1: 14. Available from: http://www.globalizationandhealth.com/content/1/1/14

The citation has the web site but not the date I include the citation in Word Officce nor Internet legend.

How could I manage to Zotero cite them in that style?
  • If this is for PLOS, we do have a separate style for that:
    https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:plos
  • That's it! It is Plos Pathogens.
    Now all citations are correct.
    Thank you!
