Zotero doesn#t work in complete document

Writing a diss with lots of citations. Zotero only works in small portions but not with the whole document (several hundreds of pages). I started to work in smaller batches and re-inserted them into the main document but Zotero still doesn't work with the main document and doesn#t create a bibliography. What can I do?

If this is macOS you will likely have to wait quite a while before the bibliography is inserted. Based on the age of your mac, it could take multiple hours.

Thanks so much for your response, adomasven! I have a macbook pro 2011 and MacOS Sierra. Usually there is a spinning circle when there is a process in the background. How can I see that Zotero is at least doing something? Usually there is just no reaction...

Yeah, sorry about that. There's a technical reason why we don't display a progress bar. You can see Zotero working on your document by opening the debug log viewer in Help -> Debug Output Logging -> View Output.
