Can't site, refresh, or update my Zotero in google docs

While writing my final paper, I went to add a citation from Zotero into the document. The operation fails abruptly and cuts to a box that reads "Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?" Nothing else, no error code, nothing. I went through the entire troubleshooting system and still nothing works. I tried it on a new document and as soon as I post one citation, the next one gives the same message. Refreshing the document, attempting to add a bibliography, and editing document preferences all give the same abrupt cut to the error message.

It seems as though the problem fixed itself and the issue is no longer present
