New footnotes suddenly in wrong style? OSCOLA/Word and abbreviated references

Hello there, I've ran into an issue regarding quotations in word/Zotero using the OSCOLA reference style.

I had no issue with this specific file in the last 6 months, but somehow Zotero started properly referencing only the first footnote of a source. Afterwards, every footnote follows this scheme: "Author (n [number of first footnote of that source]) page number"

I want every footnote to reference the full source in OSCOLA style. Older footnotes are still correct. Only newly added footnotes are affected. How can I change this?

I already tried reinstalling the OSCOLA style, but no improvement.

Thank you
  • What you're seeing is correct OSCOLA style, and the style hasn't changed for almost 2 years -- you may have had automated citation updates turned off before so the shortened citations didn't show up. You'd have to manually modify the style to avoid shortened citations (which, again, are explicitly described & required in the OSCOLA manual).

    See https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step on modifying styles.
  • Thank you for your help! However, this looks very complicated and susceptible for errors and since I have absolutely no experience with this, I'll probably have to find a work around.

    Best regards
