Zotero add-in does not appear in Word Ribbon even though all troubleshooting steps have been done

Hello. I've been using Word and Zotero on Windows for 5 years now. A month ago approximately, I wanted to write a paper but suddenly noticed Word did not offer Zotero in the ribbon anymore. I've done all the troubleshooting steps: I've made sure the Word Processor 'Microsoft Word add-in' is enabled in Zotero preferences (it was already enabled), I've made sure 'Zotero for Windows' is enabled in Tools/Add-ons in Zotero (it was already enabled), I've deleted 'extensions.json' in my Zotero profile directory. Within Word, the Trust Center has all the necessary settings already enabled and the Zotero plug-in is present among the add-ons, although it is marked as disabled. I cannot enable it by clicking on it or anything. I've also checked my Word Startup folder location, with which nothing is wrong, and I do not have any known security software issue (nothing has changed in my security software this past year). Can you please help me to fix this? I know the one thing I haven't tried is the manual installation, but I must say I'd rather avoid doing this as Zotero support seems to say that if I do, I may run into problems later due to software issues.

    I'm not sure what you mean by that. There should be a checkbox next to Zotero.dotm in the Templates and Add-ins window.
