APA 7 errors

Using the standard APA 7th edition and I've noticed a couple of errors.
First one is quoting a website without author or date seems to italicize the title. Per APA 7th edition manual (section 9.33), this should be in title case without italics.

Second error is that on the reference page it seems to be putting references in title case, not sentence case (section 6.17).

I'm fairly new to Zotero, so my fix for now is to edit the titles in Zotero so that it uses sentence case.
  • On the first issue, you are incorrect. Section 9.33 isnt really relevant here (it concerns how to construct the ‘source’ section—the publisher and retrieval location—for website items).

The general rule in APA style when an item doesn’t have an author is to substitute the title (section 9.12). The title retains its same formatting when substituted in this way as when it is in its typical place in the reference. Webpages are treated like books in APA style (ie, not part of a greater whole), so the title is in sentence case and italic (see examples 110–114 in chapter 10). The website title is treated like a publisher and rendered in regular text.

The second issue is a data entry issue: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/sentence_casing
  • I understand issue number 2. I figured it was a data entry issue and was going to manually change each title to sentence case. Glad to know I can right click it and automate it!

For the first issue, I think I understand. I was overlooking the webpage as a book concept. I was referring to in-text citations.
Suppose I'm just quoting this page:
    https://www.zotero.org/why

There is no author and no date. I should be using section 8.14 as my guide. Shouldn't the parenthetical source be (Why Zotero?, n.d.) with italics? In that case, Zotero is correctly handling it.
  • The italicization of the title in-text should have the same formatting as the title in the reference section, which depends on whether the item stands alone or is part of a larger whole. Zotero’s APA style follows the manual correctly here
