Zotero scaling in Gnome

edited June 5, 2023
Hi, I moved to use Zotero on Gnome 42 recently. The screen is 1080p but even on my 4k external monitor the problem persists. The scaling is off, seems like it sets itself to a different scaling then the whole system.

I tried messing with devPixelsPerPx but it just made everything bigger or cut them hiding part of the text and menus.

I also tried changing the font size, but I didn't find the right place for doing that.
Anyway to change the resolution Zotero thinks it has or the scaling?

OS: Fedora 37
DE: Gnome 43.5
Zotero: 6.0.26, tarball and flatpak give the same result.
  • You should try the Zotero 7 beta to see if it's any different there.
  • I forgot to mention I did try it before posting. The scaling is the same.

  • Do you have the font size increased in View → Font Size?
  • No, It's on the default settings. Changing the "Font Size" doesn't have a effect on the menus and tabs, only on the "Collection Pane" and "Items Pane".

    I have Gnome set to default 100% scaling and the default font sizes.
  • Just wanted to update on this issue:

    I fixed it by reseting the Gnome shell to its default state with:
    $ dconf reset -f /org/gnome/
    This fixed the scaling issue.

    Please take note for anyone with a similar issue that this solution will break any changes you have made to your Gnome shell, including extensions (which just need to be re-enabled).
