How Do I determine the total number of notes I have?

I did a search to find out how to determine the total number of notes I have. The directions I found are from 02/2018. They don't seem to have survived subsequent upgrades. How do I do that? Does it make a difference if I use the desktop or the web version?
(Thanks, I'm independent, I do not have an IT department that can help.)

    You can only do this on the Desktop.

    This hasn't changed in the last five years:

    Advanced search
    Item type -- is -- Note

    Create a saved search, then select all (ctrtl+a) in the middle panel and the total number of notes is the number of items selected shown on the right
