Transferring Zotero pdfs from PC to Mac

Hi, this must be a common question: I've got a large library of PDFs associated with Zotero on my old PC and I want to move these to a newer MacBook. I want to do so via an external hard drive. Please can someone give me the steps for how to do this? (Note the change in operating systems). Thanks!
