importing multiple PDFs

Hi folks, was there a simpler way to do this?
I had 16 pdfs I wanted to import into Zotero. I tried dragging them in, but I couldn't figure out where to put the mouse when I released the button, so as to avoid making them all attachments to an existing record in the collection. Instead, I created a new, empty subcollection and dragged them there.
Is that the only way to import multiple PDF files at once?

    If you want to use drag&drop, the cursor feedback will tell you what you're going to do. (This is for Windows, but I think it's identical across OSs): If you're dragging files onto an existing item, making them attachments, the item will be highlighted. If you are dragging items to be standalone items, you'll see a line between existing items as cursor feedback.

    In addition, you can also use "Store Copy of File" under the green + sign, which allows for selecting multiple files.
