Upgrade Storagesync not working (zotero 4.0.29.17 on windows 10 Pro)

I just installed zotero in a new computer, and I'm trying to sync my library using the sync icon on the top right. This fails every time with an error ("Error connecting to server. Check your Internet connection.") I tried to submit an error report from zotero, but this also fails ("Invalid response from repository") I copied and pasted the full report below.
My internet connection is working normally. I used to have zotero working properly in a very similar laptop with the same environment and connectivity, so not sure what is the problem here.

adamsmithWhere did you get that Zotero version from? That's from January 2017 (sic!) and very much no longer supported. Install the most recent version from zotero.org/download
