Parenthetical footnotes

Hello, I am working on a thesis and am trying to add a parenthetical footnote (a personal afterthought) but I see not option to do so. For example, if I wanted to add a footnote to express an idea, that is not relevant to the main conversation. How could I add that to a footnote.
