Zotero hangs
Hi,
since yesterday the software itself hangs about 5 minutes after starting. The CPU runs at around 60% when this happens and when I close the program it still runs in the background with as much CPU as before so I have to force it to stop.
I tried restarting the software, a system reboot, uninstalling and installing Zotero again.
I also tried changing the compatibility mode to Windows 7.
I uninstalled the lates Windows update.
I disenabled the add-ons 'zotero PDF preview' and 'ZotFile'.
Nothing made a differnece.
I use Windows 10 64-bit, Zotero 6.0.23 32-bit.
Any suggestions or ideas on what else to try?
Thank you.

One minor freeze happened while running the debug.
Can you provide a Debug ID for a longer freeze where you're not able to do anything?
If you're able to make a screen recording of it happening, that might also be helpful. If so, you can upload that somewhere and email it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread. We'll respond here.
This is what I do:
-Starting Zotero, where it usually automatically opens the last papers I was reading and working with
-changing from my main bibliography interface to the PDF viewer
-reading and thus scrolling in the paper, marking phrases, searching for keywords
Then Zotero starts to freeze. Usually I would have the Word plugin enabled and change between my dokument and Zotero to read, write and cite but I havent been able to do that because the freeze starts before I really can get to work.
It also freezes when I dont have any papers open when Zotero starts but manually open one paper to read it.
Yes, I'm gonna try to run a debug for a longer freeze.
It froze for around 10 minutes, recovered so far that I couls submit the debug but is still pretty bumpy and has a CPU from around 40%.
I wasnt able to make a screen recording. Will try to make one the next time if still needed.
Does this happen if you have no PDFs open? Does it happen if you only have simple text-based PDFs open?
I can check whether it also happens with shorter papers with less images in it. Would you need a debug ID for that too?
I also updated Zotereo to 6.0.24, deleted the chache and ran an OCR for the pdf in question and changed the one strored in Zotero with the new one.
It seems like one or all of these things did the trick.
