Libreoffice addon stopped working (toolbar gone)

Hello,

I have Zotero and the libreoffice addon installed on Fedora Linux. It all used to work fine.
Recently, I noticed that the zotero toolbar was gone from libreoffice. I couldn't find it in libreoffice's toolbars dialogue/settings. Also, zotero wasn't working either in documents with existing zotero citations (I could double click on the citation to open the add/edit citation dialogue, not anymore). The addon appears installed, though, in the extension manager.

I tried to follow the troubleshooting steps here https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting and tried several things:

- restart zotero, libreoffice, and the computer
- delete extensions.json
- reinstall the libreoffice addon via the cite>word processors dialogue in zotero (I get an installation successful message)
- remove and reinstall the libreoffice addon manually
- remove other zotero and libreoffice addons, just to rule out potential conflicts
- reinstall zotero (I tried both flatpak and standalone)

All these steps seem to go through fine, I don't get any error messages at any point. Thus, I don't know what else to do in order to troubleshoot.

Software versions:
Fedora 37
Zotero 6.0.23
Zotero Libreoffice integration 6.0.3
Libreoffice 7.4.6.2

I have tried to see if there was any recent change to the system at all, that might have caused this issue, but I can't really think of anything relevant.

If I can provide any other information that might help, let me know :)

Thank you
  • That would really be a LibreOffice question. If the extension shows as installed in the LO extension manager, the toolbar should show up, assuming it's enabled in View → Toolbars. Anything else related to Zotero isn't relevant.

If you can't figure it out, the only thing I can suggest is deleting your LO profile directory and reinstalling the extension.
