My files on my Zotero app have disappeared, but are there when I log in to the website and check my web library. When I log in to the app on my mac it says
"Warning...You are about to sync to an empty Zotero database. This could happen if you accidentally deleted the zotero.sqlite file in your Zotero data directory or the location of your data directory changed.
If you continue, data in the ‘lat18’ account will be downloaded to this computer. Your online library won’t be affected.
If your Zotero data exists elsewhere on this computer, you should move it to the current data directory or change the data directory location to point to your existing data."
I want to get my files back onto the app but don't want to accidentally sync an empty library and lose my files online as well. If I click sync will my files return to the app or will the new library be the empty one? If so, how can i fix this.

And as it says, this would happen if you accidentally deleted your local Zotero data file. "Locating Missing Zotero Data", linked above, will walk you through how to determine whether that happened.
