Layout: Size of the searchbar

Hey together,

first thanks for all your work!
I regularly wonder why the search bar is so small. When i enter the title of a paper, to see if i got it in my db already, i only see the last 1- 2 words. There is so much space to the left until the "Advanced Search"-Button. Is there any reason why this layout is so weird?

It's just fixed-width, so it can't be too long -- I'm guessing this is a limitation of the current framework, but making it more responsive to display width (up to a degree) would make sense as the layout gets updated going forward, I agree.

Hello,
It would be much appreciated indeed if the search field can be made larger. Or better yet, starts at the left of the magnifier button and automatically extend up to the next icon.

In the meantime: is there a way to changer its fixed-width through the configuration editor under advanced settings?

I agree with nopx and adamsmith. I use search bar a lot today and feel the same.
