Second and subsequent citations in MHRA 3rd Edition (notes with Bibliog)

I am using MS Word to write in, and have the Word for Windows Intergration add on installed. It is working fine - except that when I am citing a work multiple times I get a full reference, instead of just author and page number as I was doing .

This is a new glitch - how can I stop it? I know I have right Style installed.
HELP
  • How far are those two citations apart? Same page or pages and pages apart?

Note that the style adds a bit more information if it has to disambiguate between citations with the same author and year. Could that be the case for you?
  • There are three reasons I can think of
    1. Your references aren't set to update automatically (in that case, they should also be dash-underlined)
    2. Your original reference has become unlinked
    3. Some version of what damnation is saying, maybe in combination with weird metadata. Have you tested in a new document?
  • These citations are on the same page.
I understand about the disambiguation - these are all references from the same work
I have checked my Zotero settings and:
Refs are set to update automatically
I don't think the original ref is unlinked, and even if it was, the third ref to that work should go into short form, because the second reference is a full one.

Thanks for the ideas. Something will work here.
  • I have cracked it. It was disambiguation that was the problem - I needed to set a short title.
    Many thanks!
