Edit Bibliography

I can place a bibliography in a word document. However i need to format the bibliography so that it is numbered. I can manually number the entries using word, but because these entries (the citations) are 'hot links' they revert back to the simple 'justified left' format as soon as i add another citation to the body of the document.
