What is the maximum number of citations you can import into Zotero from an academic database results list?

No theoretical limit on the Zotero end (at some point you might run into memory issues, but we're talking many thousands).
The actual limit depends on the database, how it exports, and if it rate limits or has bot protections that lock out Zotero.
