quote that restarts at 1

Hello and sorry if the question has already been answered, I could not find it with the search.

I worked yesterday on Google doc on a word document (docX) which had about 40 quotes. Today when I download my modified file in docX, the quotes start from 1.
When I put myself on an old quote and I want to edit it, the bar is empty.
And the refresh function tells me that I have to add citations first.

Would you know how to resume my work without having to start my quotes again?

Thank's a lot for the answers

Zotero won't function in Google Docs in .docx mode, so I assume that's not what you mean.

If you just mean you were working on a document in Google Docs and then downloaded it to .docx, that will break the citations, and Zotero should show you a warning if you try to do that. See Moving Documents with Zotero Citations Between Word Processors for the extra step you have to take when moving between word processors. (Again, this is assuming you have a document with working citations in Google Docs.)
