Elevating a child note or doc to a parent document

It seems that some of my "child" documents--either notes first related to a particular document, or pdfs linked to parent documents --have grown up and are ready to be "parents." Is there a way to move child documents into independent status?

Apologies if this has been discussed before. I couldn't find it.

Thanks!

One way: open a second browser window, and display them side by side, with zotero open in both. On the second (target) instance of Zotero, scroll to the bottom of the library where there is some white space (or create a new, empty colletion). Drag the note from the original location to the blank space, and voila!, the child is grown up.
  • You can just drag a child note between two top-level items. You'll see a gray horizontal line, and letting go will promote the child note.

In Zotero 2.0, snapshots saved from the web can't be promoted to standalone items. Attachments added from the filesystem can be.
