Switching from Chicago Note to Author-Date

I wrote a paper using Chicago with footnotes. Now I need to convert my paper to the author-date format; however, when I do so, the footnotes change to the author-date format. I don't want my footnotes to change, I want them to disappear, and the author-date information be put in-text.

I have also tried to change to APA to see if that would work. I get the same result: footnotes put in APA format, but no in-text citations added.

    This should work, and does for me in Mac Word.

    What word processor? Can you reproduce this in a new document?

    (Make sure these are actually *footnotes* though -- what you're seeing is a known issue when switching from endnotes to an in-text style)
