Change Bullet Style of Zotero Bibliography

Hello -

I am trying to change the default bullet style of my Zotero bibliography in my .docx file. Right now it is displaying for each source like...

(1) Doe, J.; Doe, J.;...

but I want to change it so it shows instead...

1 Doe, J.; Doe, J.;...

I have explored the Zotero Tab in Word > Document Preferences, but I don't think I can change it there. Any suggestions?
  • That's set in the citation style. Which are you using?
  • I am using "American Chemical Society." Is there way to take this citation style and modify it so it has a new bullet style? If there is a Youtube video tutorial you recommend, I am happy to watch it.
  • The ACS style does superscripting, so I'm not sure what style you're looking at.

But in any case, to modify these type of things, open the style and look for the part that starts with "prefix="(" suffix=")" set on "layout".
Remove or adapt that as needed.

General instructions on how to edit a style are here: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step

If you're wanting to publish in a specific journal we don't yet have in our repository though, it's probably easiest if you tell us which and we add a custom style.
