How to add link to local file from the browser?
Hello,
I have configured Zotero with Zotfile to automatically create links for PDFs to a desktop folder which is synchronized with a cloud.
On my tablet, I have constant sync between this cloud folder to a local tablet folder and in Zoo for Zotero I added that folder to be the folder for downloads. This now enables me to open and edit the pdf files directly from Zoo for Zotero and later they get automatically synchronized folderwise without having to rely on Zoo for Zotero.
Now I would like to ask how could I link a local file from my mobile? So for example, I save an article via the zotero save online, I have the PDF on my mobile phone in the folder which is the same as the original folder on my computer. Now the only thing I would need to do is add manually a link to that file on my mobile (or my computer as Zoo for Zotero will recognize my mobile folder), for example as a relative path. This would enable me to be able to search and add and work on new bibliography without having to open the computer.
I tried to get behind how the links are done in Zotero to do it manually, but in the webpage I only find the option "link to URL" and telling the link to URL a local filepath seems to not work.
Is there an alternative to what Im trying to accomplish? To

Your specific scenario aside, generally speaking, it makes very little sense for web library to offer option to create links to files. You wouldn't be able to open these files in a PDF reader or export with annotations, and if you mistyped the path (which needs to be absolute path on your disk) or web library would not be able to warn you about it. And, of course, it wouldn't work on another machine, again without any warning from web library. All things considered It would be pointless and rather confusing experience for most users.
