Why is Zotero creating citation keys "zotero-xxxxx" and how to change this behaviour?

I noticed that hundreds of my entries in Zotero with linked files have the citation key zotero-xxxxx.

I notice that the entries have some metadata except author name.
I suppose this is the problem?

How to update the citation key to something more... meaningul?
Is there an option to tell Zotero to rename the citation key when the name of the author is added?

Zotero doesn't have a Citation Key field currently (except for the new Preprint item type).

If you're asking about the Better BibTeX field, you'll need to ask the BBT developer for help.
