Zotero Giving Error While Adding a New Reference/Updating an Existing Citation URGENT

Hi! Here is my error reference number: 981424913

When i try to add a new reference work to an existing citation, Zotero crashes when it tries to renew/update that citation. And it had even caused my word .doc file to crash and damage, so we tried it to restore the file online for at least two hours today with a Microsoft Support Assistant. I can't add/replace/edit my citations on my dissertation text anymore. How to resolve the problem?
  • What's the full version number of Word that you are running? Unless you can reproduce this in a new document, you will have to go through the Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents steps. If they do not help, summarize what happened at each step.

Firstiful thank you for reply. My Word version is Word 2016 MSO (16.0.4266.1001) 64 bit. I got help that day by a female assistant via Windows Quick Assist and thankfully she was able to save my draft text. The erroneous file is not crashing anymore, but when i click "Refresh Document" in Zotero the same error occurs and it crashes to a new blank doc page. I have to solve it in case i would add any further citations to the text. By the way, i'm talking about the fresh copy of the erroneous file. The original file is totally corrupted now.
  • So to start there seems to be a newer version of word, so you should begin by updating to that. Otherwise, you should follow the instructions I linked to above to troubleshoot the issue with your document.

Note that Zotero plugin is built to interact with Word only in the official way that Microsoft itself has developed, so whatever crash and corruption of Word that occurs while using the Zotero plugin is ultimately a bug in Word. Either way, if you can find a small snippet of a Word document that reliably reproduces the crash, we can report that to Microsoft and also look for a workaround on our end. But for that you will need to follow the instructions above.
  • I have just solved it! The only problem was the citation style i preferred. I was using the style of Institute of Social Sciences by Izmir Katip Çelebi University until now, and i have changed it to the one by Istanbul University. In this manner now i can add the other new citations too and click Refresh without any problem. Thank God!
And i also appreciate your interest. Anyone who could suffer such a problem like mine, the first way should they try is to change the style only.
