Zotero Footnote Numbers move locations in Word

Hello. First time using this tool and I'm stumped how to use it correctly. I have one paragraph of text containing several sentences. I want to use Zotero to create a citation after the first sentence and another citation to a different reference after the second sentence. When I refresh, Zotero moves the location of the first citation to the location of the second citation and combines them together.

How do I stop this from happening?

    What's the full version number of Word that you are using? What citation style did you choose in Zotero? Presumably this is happening in a new document? If not, can you reproduce it in a new document?

    Zotero version 6.0.21

    I'm using the Lancet's citation style. The problem persists regardless of having automatic updates to citations on or off. The problem persists when I open a new document too.

    I cannot reproduce this behavior. Can you create a small sample document that produces this behavior upon refresh and send it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
