Zotero doesn't let me switch citation styles
I have a manuscript in an older Word .doc that I'm prepping for publication and am trying to change from CMoS to Harvard. When I click on a footnote and attempt to alter the citation style, I receive the following error: "Zotero experienced an error updating your document." It does that each time I try to modify the style. This was a pre-docx file (before Office 365's release) that integrated a prior version of Zotero into a bibliography. I don't know if that has something to do with this snafu? How can I proceed in switching styles without encountering further errors? Should I copy/paste the text into a blank Word document? How should I save it (i.e., different format)? Change the file name?
Also, I want to change all my Chicago-style endnotes into parenthetical citations using Harvard. Am I able to without manually keying them all in again?

adomasvenIf this is a document with endnote citations, first switch to footnote citations, then attempt to switch the style. Otherwise see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents

sllarsonThanks for your quick reply. The endnote-to-footnote conversion worked(!), at least somewhat. I was able to switch the style from Chicago to the journal's house style, a variant of Harvard. (I was able to install this new style.) When I selected all the footnotes, it made number of them switch to parenthetical citations while the rest remained footnotes. I was then able to convert the footnotes back into endnotes, which the journal requires. I'm not sure why it's formatting the notes two different ways. I had to save two different documents while performing the conversion because I initially deleted text in the body and associated references, which I don't need for my revised manuscript. It ended up either excising or hiding a lot of my endnotes, which I didn't want it to do. So I'll continue to tinker. Thanks for any additional feedback you can think of.
