Reset synchronizing

Hey there, I just synchronized my Desktop Zotero version (which I have been using for the past couple of months only), expecting it to sync both ways - as it says on the webpage: "it automatically applies changes in both directions".
What it did though was syncronizing only my desktop version to the old online version of the library - which means that all my citations (its about 200 journals) are lost. I tried resetting the sync but that did not work. Any idea how I can retrieve the data (e.g. extracting the data from the word document to zotero...)?
Thanks for your help!!

No, syncing does exactly that — it applies changes in both directions.

If you synced and items were deleted from your online library, it's just because you had deleted those items in your local library since the last sync.

The only exception would be if you used Replace Online Library from the Sync → Reset pane of the Zotero preferences, which does what it says: it completely replaces the online library with your local library.

If you deleted those items recently, you could restore from a backup and replace the online library, but if you deleted them a while ago, that wouldn't be possible.

You can extract data and import it back to Zotero using Reference Extractor. Note that those imported items won't be linked to the citations in any existing documents, and you'll get duplicates for anything still in your library.
