everything is gone

Today, when I opened Firefox/Zotero, my folders in my library were all in the left-hand pane as usual, but they are all empty, and when I try to add files, the red/gray box appears in the lower right-hand corner as usual, but nothing actually shows up as having been added. Help!

Have you checked the known issues page? http://www.zotero.org/support/known_issues Especially the section regarding incompatible extensions.

Disable your other extensions and themes.

Gliider (travel planning)

So if I want to use Gliider, I just have to disable it when I want to use Zotero?

That would be their breaking search textboxes in Firefox 3.5 (by overriding textbox[type="search"] with a custom binding, to be specific and technical). You'd have to report it to them.
