Migrating from Mendeley

Hi Folks,

Trying to migrate my whole Mendeley library, with PDFs, to Zotero. I read all the posts I could find about this process, and the silver bullet everyone agreed on was to export the .ris file from Mendeley, save it in the same folder as the PDFs, and then import it to Zotero.

I did that, and I just get the citations, not the PDFs.

Has this worked for other people? Could it have something to do with the fact that I use Mendeley on a PC, but I'm setting up Zotero on a Mac? So the .ris was exported from a PC and imported on a Mac. Or do you also just need to grab alllllllll the PDFs in that folder and import them at the same time?

Thanks,

Erik

I'm not sure why you read lots of ancient forum posts on this instead of just typing "zotero mendeley import" into Google, which would take you to the official documentation on this. You extremely do not want to use RIS for this. We have a built-in importer that imports everything. Just go to File → "Import…" and pick the Mendeley option.
