Adding automatic tags to items got by identifier
I have just read in https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags#automatic_tags that "When items are saved to a Zotero library from the web, tags are sometimes automatically added to items".
Does this imply that when items are added to Zotero library "by Identifier", tags cannot be added to them? In that case, why? Shouldn't be possible to use the DOI url to look for keywords?
Thanks!

adamsmithIt doesn't actually mean no tags when using identifiers -- arxiv IDs, PMIDs, and some ISBNs will add tags. DOIs don't add tags because the metadata comes from the registration agencies (mostly CrossRef and Datacite) and those don't store tags/keywords. I don't see us changing that: going through the central metadata store of the registration agencies is much more reliable and much faster than resolving the DOI, loading the entire webpage in the background, and trying to import from there.
