Consistent Zotero Connector issue "Is zotero running?"

I don't have the debug ID for every problem -- if anyone know how to retrieve previous debug id's let me know. I have tried every troubleshooting option. I'm truly at a loss at this point, I rely on Zotero for school.

- Zotero connector has been installed and uninstalled (most updated version)
- I have no other extensions running
- all cookies are accepted
- Zotero desktop app is open (and most recent version)
- Issue occurs in both Chrome and Explorer (both the most updated versions)
- all sites are supported
- http://127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping always reports zotero is connected but Zotero connecter preferences always says Zotero is unavailable

Debug ID: D1890300032.

By Explorer do you mean Edge and did you try installing the Zotero Connector there and testing whether it works for saving? If you did, then do you run any security software that may be interfering? Have you tried disabling that?

Can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to save?
  • Yes I meant Edge. Yes it doesnt work their either like I said. I have Sophos installed on my computer as provided by my university.

Not sure what you mean there is a debug id above
  • That is a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector. You should produce a Debug ID from the Zotero Client. Sophos is likely the culprit here though, so you should test with it temporarily disabled.

it looks like it is Sophos-- is there any solution for this so i don't have to turn sophos off when I want to use Zotero?
  • I am not familiar with the software, but it seems that it may be blocking Zotero client from receiving HTTP requests on a localhost open port, so you need to configure some sort of exception for that. Your system administrator may be able to do that if you can't figure it out. The relevant information is in the link I posted above.
