UX: item's tag auto-complete not suitable for all cases

It appears only when 2 characters have been entered. In Chinese, the tags may be short, with only a few characters. In English, users may also use ultra-short tag, although it can be easily input.

Perhaps it should provide some control (tags cloud) to display and select the most commonly used (in this collect, this item type or all items).

I'm not sure what you're saying here. That in Chinese, you would want to see auto-complete suggestions after a single entered character?

Even shorter, because Chinese input often completes a word at a time. If the tag is a word, triggering auto-complete have to enter a single character for longer steps.
Allow to fuzzy matching (not beginning) and selection interface may be better, in my ideas.
