In Harvard Reference Format 1(author-date) stlye for example, I tried to figure out which comman line results in the symbol &. I need to use the word "and" instead of the symbol

That is done via the "and" attribute, which can be set to either "symbol" (to get the ampersand) or "text" (to get "and"). One of the relevant lines in http://www.zotero.org/styles/harvard1:

<name name-as-sort-order="all" and="symbol" sort-separator=", " initialize-with="." delimiter-precedes-last="never" delimiter=", "/>

Thank you very much, I just replaced the "symbol" with "text" in the given lines and it is working properly. As I said still new but interested to learn this CSL program. Hope I will grab and also make contributions.
