Using only Group library

Hi, is using just a group library fine or are there any drawbacks that I should be awared of?

I created My Library with over 300 items. Then I shared these items to our Group library. However it is not convenient for me to take care of both libraries. Is it okay to just use the group library?

Thank you.
  • Only downside of group libraries is that you can't use WebDAV or linked files. If you use Zotero storage or don't need attached files, they're perfect
  • I use Zotero storage. So I should be fine I guess. Thanks.

Question 1: Could someone please explain what "you can't use [...] linked files" in @adamsmith 's answer means?

Because the references in My Library and the Group libraries are not synced, I am considering using only a Group library to share our research group's database with all my colleagues. I'd like to understand what the disadvantages are.
Question 2: Are there any disadvantages?

Question 3: Is it possible to use the references when working off-line if you do not have references in My Library?

We need the references in LaTeX documents as well as Word documents.
We have a Zotero storage subscription for one account.

    Thank you.
  • Literally, you can't link to a local file from a group library (because, presumably, that link would break for most users).
But as a solution for sharing references for a group it's perfect -- you just need to use Zotero file storage if you also wnat to share files.
  • Thank you very much for your reply.
I'm a new user, so not used to the terminology. I checked the documentation and see now that there is a difference between attaching a stored document and linking a document. So, if I only attach documents, there seems to be no disadvantage at all.
  • That's correct, yes.
