Citation Help: Struggling with APA 7th (numeric, superscript) and Chicago (full note, short title)

Apologies if this has been asked a million times.

APA Question:
When I cite, I want the superscript number sequence to be 1, 2, 3, etc... even if using the same source twice. But instead, if the same source is used more than once, the in-text superscript references the same previous number (i.e. 1, 2, 1, 1) and there is no shortened version of the full citation in the bibliography.

Can I fix this issue using APA?

Chicago Question:
When using Chicago style, the superscripts show as roman numerals vs. my preference, numeric. And the bibliography and endnotes are not blended. Is there any way to fix these two issues?

Thanks a ton to whomever can help.
  • On APA, only by changing the style to a note style, which is fairly involved.

On Chicago (which is already a note style) changing to Arabic numeric is just a Word setting, though, and very easy: You can easily just google how to change endnote numbers to arabic numbers in Word for your Word version for detailed instructions.
  • @adamsmith Thank you! Seems APA would be too complicated while I'm under a time crunch, so I'll just make the fix and stick with Chicago style.
