Linking files between computers

Hi,

I received an error message:

The attached file could not be found at the following path:

/Users/scottbarvainis/Zotero/storage/G8IEC7IF/Burgdorf and Panksepp - 2006 - The neurobiology of positive emotions.pdf

It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero, or, if the file was added on another computer, it may not yet have been synced to zotero.org.

My computer A has access to files and PDFs as does my online Zotero library. But my new computer B has all of the information from my online and computer A library except access to files and pdfs. How to I restore the files/pdf access on my computer B. I have plenty of online storage space.

Thanks
  • Did you just set up Computer B? If your library is large, it may just not have finished downloading all the files yet. Let it finish its initial sync or to get the file right away, change your settings in the Sync pane of Zotero preferences to download files “A Needed”

There's no need to change it to "as needed" (unless you want to). Zotero will always download a locally missing file when you try to open it if it exists online, regardless of that setting.

I'd guess that @sbarvainis was just at their file sync quota, upgraded their storage, and hasn't synced the computer where the files were added since then — lots of files just don't exist online. ("as does my online Zotero library" is incorrect.)

In any case, see Files Not Syncing to troubleshoot.
  • Dstillman...I've gone to the Files Not Syncing already and my online library has files available that computer B does not. I've synced both computers multiple times and still the same error message keeps coming up on Computer B for all of my files...
  • You haven't gone through it completely or you'd be providing more information. There's no way for us to help you otherwise.
