Zotero not starting anymore

Hey guys, im writing my thesis and wanted to open up Zotero again but its not working anymore... as far as I can remember it installed an update but I don't know if its related or not. Two days ago it was working fine and I've never had an issue like this since I've started working with Zotero.

When I try to open Zotero my Mac gives me the error message "The program "Zotero" cannot be opened."


any ideas what I can do?

    Just delete it from Applications and reinstall it from the download page.

    Thanks for your quick response. I thought about that but not all of the literature I used I saved to the Zotero cloud. From my understanding all of the things I cited would be gone, correct?

    No, of course not — we wouldn't suggest something that was going to wipe out your data. Deleting a Mac application from Applications never affects any data.

    ok thank you for the clarification. I tried it and it opened up again even with the files that were open last. Thank you for the help!
