Error message:Check your internet connection

Hi! I'm running Zotero on a desktop with Windows 11 system. Zotero is the latest version, yet I am having trouble syncing. The circular arrow will spin all day, only to eventually have a read error message show up along side the arrow which says "Error connecting to server. Check your internet connection." The trouble is, my internet connection is fine (i.e. I am able to do anything else on the interwebs and other apps run normally, aside from syncing). When I access zotero on my other computers (mac and windows 10 system), I find that none of my recently added citations or attachments are available (nor are they available through zotero online). And I also tried reinstalling zotero, firstly I can't start the installation package with an error "The smartscreen cannot be accessed. Check your Internet connection. Microsoft Defender Smartscreen cannot be accessed and therefore cannot help you determine if you can run the application". I found many ways to sovle this problem, after I closed "Microsoft Defender Smartscreen", I could install Zotero, however, it still have the error I mentioned originally.

I have attempted the "Reset File Sync History" function, but again, to no avail.
Thank you all sincerely for your assistance with this!
Sincerely,
Athena Liu

Thanks, I tried this yesterday, but it didn't work. I have already disable all proxies in my system proxy settings.

If you can provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup through a few minutes of attempted syncing, using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option, we can take a look, but ultimately this is a problem with the networking setup on your computer and it's something you'll need to debug. Zotero can obviously connect to the internet on a normally configured system.
  • Zotero still cannot connet to the Internet, so I couldn't get the Debug ID, The glitch issues also had problems when they were submitted, so I pasted them here.

  • OK, so you still have a proxy configured, and Zotero can't connect to it.
  • Can you help me analyze the network problems above?
  • All the information we can provide is on the Connection Error page. Everything else is specific to your system.
  • "WebSocket connection closed: 1006" this means another proxy configured?
  • That's irrelevant.
  • I'm so sad, because zotero is so important to me on that desktop. I have checked the system settings, all network proxies are disabled. The "winsock" and "winsock2" in registry were changed. Zotero still cannot connect to the Internet.
  • Do I have to download Firefox
  • No, you don't need Firefox. The point is just that the settings in the Config Editor are the same as those documented for Firefox.
